Full Description

One of the best ways to view a lot of a city up close is often on a bicycle. An electric pedal-assisted bicycle is even better! This tour explores Central Park, the Upper Westside and Harlem in just a few hours. Upper Manhattan is hilly, and an electric pedal-assisted bike will get you up the hills of Central Park and Morningside Heights with just a fraction of the effort.

Utilizing bike paths, lanes, and quiet side streets, this tour begins in the southern end of Central Park and visits park highlights like the Bethesda Terrace and Strawberry Fields. We exit the park and head up the Upper Westside checking the local architecture and making a quick visit to a famous local market (Zabars). Next, we enjoy spectacular Hudson river views riding along the esplanade to Grant’s tomb. On our way to Harlem, we examine the massive Riverside and St. John Cathedrals and take a pass-through Columbia University.

Down the hill of Morningside Park into Harlem, we tool around seeing some of the more famous Harlem attractions and recounting the very interesting history of the Harlem Renaissance. Sites include the famous Apollo Theater and Hotel Terresa as we buzz around viewing the fantastic brownstones of Harlem. Finally, we return to Central Park where we will go over the Great Hill and travel the length of the park to our starting point.
